Abstract

Based on the different scientific approaches, we generalize the concept of "Geographic Information System". A detailed characterization of the GIS capabilities in terms of the reforming housing and communal services in the region is given. We highlight the main tasks of the general information processing centers. The current trends in the development of GIS in the developed countries are revealed. We outline the main problems of the implementation of GIS in practice.
