The article discusses the methodological foundations of research into higher geographical education in Ukraine, taking into account the challenges of war and educational transformations. The need to create a comprehensive methodological basis for studying the spatial and content aspects of geographical education is justified. It is determined that the key factors of long-term changes in the spatial structure, content of higher geographical education, and new trends in the training of specialists are: mass internal displacement of the population, relocation of universities, modernization of the network of higher education institutions, as well as updating the content of educational programs in the context of full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine and educational reforms. As a result of the work, a multi-level and dynamic methodological scheme for researching higher geographical education has been formed, which takes into account the contexts of wartime at all stages (from defining theoretical and methodological foundations to formulating conclusions), as well as dynamic changes in educational institutions, ethical aspects, and limited access to statistical data. The logical combination of general scientific and specific scientific methods, such as comparative geography, cartography, SWOT analysis, mathematical-statistical and geoinformation methods, and sociological surveys, is justified. This methodological apparatus makes it possible to identify spatial patterns, characteristics, and internal and external interrelationships in the system of higher geographical education. The article emphasizes that spatial factors (location, accessibility, regional disparities) significantly influence the organization, accessibility, and quality of geographical education. The study of higher geographical education is interdisciplinary and requires the integration of a spatial approach to develop sound strategies for the restoration and development of the educational network in the post-war period. The proposed methodology can be used for further empirical research and to justify management decisions in the field of higher geographical education in Ukraine.
